I graduated as a first class Flower Designer from Nippon Flower Designers Association (NFD) and studied under Mr. Koji Ikeda who is the leading expert of European Flower Design.
In my career I’ve demonstrated at many prestigious events in Japan and abroad including the Japan Flower Design Awards (2008-2010), IHF2008 Spring, Japan Grand Prix International Orchid and Flower Show (2008) and the 24th National School Festival Shizuoka (2009).
I’ve been entering competitions for many years and in the past I’ve won the JCFA Award at Flower Decorator Grand Prix (2009); the NFD Chairman Award (2010); the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award (2015) at Kanto & Tokai Flower Exhibition; the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award in Modern Category of Arrangement at Japan Flower Design Award (2016); and the Prime Minister's Award in Arrangement Category at Japan Flower Design Award (2017).
I’m very proud of my book ‘Hana Ippon Kara Hajimeru Hajimete No Flower Arrangement’ (translated to "You can start a flower arrangement with a single flower for first time"). Some more work I’m proud to have been part of is designing the commemorative bouquet at Embassy of Finland for the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Finnish diplomatic relation. I also designed the display at Shin Marunouchi Building for Marunouchi Flower Week 2008.
Receiving the Prime Minister’s Award at Japan Flower Design Award in 2017 is a big highlight for me, but I’ve also loved lecturing and training at Nippon Flower Designers Association (NFD) whilst running my own shop ‘Bonne Vie’.
Hobbies and Interests
Flowers (obviously!) and outside of that, I also enjoy reading.
What inspires your competitor's style and floral designs and why?
Nature inspires me and I’m also attracted to the concept of Ying and Yang – equal opposing forces which are connected and balance each other out.
